Artist’s Statement:

In the sharp clarity of winter air, these chickadees move with a rhythm that is both urgent and assured. They arrive and depart in quick succession, their wings tracing pale arcs in the crisp air. The feeder—weathered, worn, and dependable—is  a small stage where motion gathers and disperses again.

This image lives in the in-between: not in the landing, nor the leaving, but in that suspended fraction where both exist at once. There is choreogrpahy here—between push and patience, instinct and restraint. What appears frenetic reveals itself, on closer look, to be deeply ordered. Each bird knows its moment, its place in the flow.

Even in winter’s austerity, there is vibrancy. A pulse. A warmth carried not by color, but by movement.
