In a sky alive with movement, the moon holds its place—steady, watching—as stone rises to meet it. The scene feels both ancient and immediate, where shifting clouds and enduring cliffs share the same quiet gravity.

Artist’s Statement:
A towering face of stone meets a sky in motion, where clouds gather and disperse like breath across the frame. Above it all, the moon appears—subtle but undeniable—anchoring the scene with quiet persistence. The contrast between permanence and change defines the image: rock shaped over millennia, sky reshaped by the moment.
Rendered in black and white, the textures deepen—the vertical striations of the cliff, the soft turbulence of the clouds, the distant glow of the moon. There is a sense of elevation, not just in height, but in awareness—of time, of scale, of presence within something far larger than oneself.
This one is personal. Ansel Adams was inspirational to me as a young photography student. I still love black and white photography - there is something pure about it.
I wanted to recreate his iconic image - a captivating black-and-white landscape, with the moon floating over the towering cliffs of Yosemite beneath a swirling sky. The interplay of transient shadow and light among the permanent, the ethereal, and the infinite, touches all the elements of the universe.
This image reveals something new, every time I look at it.
