The Grand Canyon must be experienced. Its size is impossible to describe.  It's beauty difficult to capture.  I walked down, in darkness, to the start of the mule path used to reach the canyon floor.  As the sun came up, I sat, in silence, and watched the rising sun skip from butte to butte.   Seldomly have I felt so small, yet so connected . I hope this picture, in some small way, brings this feeling to you when you look at it.  I hope, like me, you see something different every time...

At Bright Angel Point, the canyon resists simplification. Its scale stretches beyond comprehension, and even in stillness, it feels alive with time. Morning light does not conquer the shadows—it brushes them away, carefully, touching the layered cliffs and distant mesas with quiet precision. The foreground trees frame the view like witnesses, grounding the eye before it falls into the vast expanse beyond.

This image combines presence and distance: standing at the edge, unable to fully grasp what lies before you. The Grand Canyon is not just seen—it is felt, in silence, in scale, in the awareness of deep time carved into stone.
